What IF?

Is this an identity crisis?

What if you are an original.  What if the value and quality of your life depended on excepting and connecting to who you reaally are underneath the percieved inadequacies, fears and wounds. YOU, without the voices that torment your every idea. YOU without the labels that catagorize your life and define your success or failure. What if you are unique and your authenticity is the key to your experience, purpose and success in this life.  What if the answer to WHO you really are and Why you are, is one question away.

Most of us are publicly identifying ourselves by what we spend our time doing, professionally, by our skin color, age, or economic status. How we are treated by both friends and strangers is based on what kind of car we drive, the designer label, or lack of, on our clothing, or even by the neighborhood we live in. Is how we relate to one another truly based on these superficial accoutrements? When ask, "What do you do?", is your answer, I am a teacher, bus driver, accountant, doctor or whatever the case may be?
In contrast, privately, we identify ourselves by the experience that has had the greatest effect on our self esteem whether transforming us into victims or victors. And then there's the media: film, television, commercials, billboards, music, magazines bombarding our every sensibility both consciously and subconsciously. All competing for control over our choices in order to line the pockets of the creators of this economic machine. Hey, truth be told, they are winning.
How much debt have you incurred in order to create your identity...or are you one of those that filed bankruptcy this year and gets to start all over again. Oh, is it true that plastic surgery has become an addiction for some?

Anorexia, bulimia, bi-polar disorder, schizophrenia, and other mental illnesses that reflect an instability of the mind and fractured identity...Do you suppose these illnesses may have something to do with the anxiety caused by the inability to conform to these seemingly innocuous images that tear at and breakdown any sense of self esteem one might have, these standards that displace our authenticity and subdue our creative instincts?
Hey, is Prozac still the drug of choice or is there a "better" one now?
But who are you really. Behind the mask, who lives there? Who is that person staring back at you in the mirror. Who are you way down inside, deep underneath these manufactured portraits perpetrated upon our psyche?
What is your passion or is it buried, smothered by the need to survive?
Did you know that the Kingdom of God is within YOU?
